Limonade

Once I was a little monad And longed to be a lemonade. Then I met you, all alone, And you, too, wished for limo of your own. So we became many—and hydrogen— And many asked again and again: “Is everything so dark in here? Who will bring light to this sphere?” Then brightness filled our loft above, And suns farted forth oxygen with love. We melted all into a single one And became a water like none. Yet to make a proper lemonade, A touch of sugar must be laid. So bacilli, plants and creatures grew, And all together we sought what was true. We researched, connected, and stretched far and wide, And in time became human, side by side. That’s why a little monad now sits By a sunny seaside promenade And sips the tastiest cherry lemonade.
